Bayaan

Compliance workflow automation for Gulf financial institutions.

Overview

What Bayaan does.

Bayaan automates the compliance checks that Gulf banks and financial institutions run on every customer, transaction and counterparty. The product replaces a manual review process — pulling data from registries, screening against sanctions lists, generating the audit trail — with a workflow engine that compliance officers configure once and the system runs continuously.

Why we invested

The thesis behind Bayaan.

Gulf financial regulation is tightening, and the compliance teams at mid-size banks are drowning in manual checks. Bayaan's founders built compliance automation as a consulting project for two Dubai-based banks before productising it. The first four customers pay annual contracts in dirhams.

We invested because the product is already in production, the revenue is in hard currency, and the team sits in Islamabad where the engineering cost is a fraction of what a Dubai-based competitor would pay. The compliance domain is sticky — once a bank configures its rules in Bayaan, switching costs are high.
